By Ella Miller

Valentine’s Day is an opportunity for brands to connect with their consumers on an emotional level. As one of the most widely celebrated holidays, it gives brands a chance to showcase themed products and tap into the theme of love in their advertising. Effective campaigns highlight creativity and relevance while strengthening brand loyalty. Here’s a look at some of the most eye-catching Valentine’s Day ad campaigns this year.

Reformation + Pete Davidson: Reformation partnered with comedian Pete Davidson posing as “the perfect boyfriend.” The campaign features Davidson, after his tattoo removal, modeling Reformation’s clothes with the tagline: “We have some news. We got a boyfriend. And not just any boyfriend. The boyfriend. Pete Davidson, the go-to complement to beautiful and talented women everywhere, has officially partnered with Reformation, the other go-to complement to beautiful and talented women everywhere.” Davidson is also featured in a video on the website, depicting why he’s the perfect boyfriend. The clip shows Davidson helping his girlfriend shop, where he acts as the textbook definition of the perfect boyfriend – even knowing the difference between Reformation’s jean styles. The campaign’s mix of humor and authenticity definitely make this Valentine’s Day campaign memorable.

Converse + Alex Consani: Converse’s Love me, Love me Not campaign features supermodel Alex Consani to show the duality of love and the importance of self-expression. The brand released a new line of shoes with matching apparel, blending classic styles and romantic themes. Additionally, Converse released a shoe customization option, aligning with the inclusivity theme of the campaign, and showing that there is something for everyone. The campaign also features a commercial depicting both traditional and nontraditional sides of Valentine’s Day. Converse’s campaign combines storytelling, customization and angles of self-love that come together to make this a stand-out Valentine’s Day campaign.

Kate Spade + Madison Beer: Kate Spade released its capsule collection featuring popstar Madison Beer. The collection and gift guide takes a different approach to Valentine’s Day by focusing on friendship, rather than partner relationships. One section of the website shows a pink purse with the tagline “only the best for your BFF” and “shop galentine’s gifts.” The collection has a variety of accessories that give off a traditional Valentine’s Day feel, including roses, hearts, pink and red in their ads and featured products. Kate Spade’s Valentine’s Day campaign is unique with their authentic feel and simplistic ads. The campaign surely tugs on the heartstrings of Kate Spade’s audience and highlights a different side of Valentine’s Day, celebrating friendships and relatability.
